TRIP 1 – August 2009

I decided to visit my friend Stuart who lives in London. We met at the University of Glasgow in 1994 when I did an exchange year during my undergraduate degree. My friend Anna was going to London at the same time, and we found out that we could fly there via Iceland, so we stopped there on the way. Stuart and I also went up to Scotland for a  bit as well, to see some of the Fringe festival and to go and visit our old favourite pubs in Glasgow. And to remember all the embarassing moments over a few pints. You can’t beat nostalgia.

  • Reykjavik, Iceland
  • London, England
  • Edinburgh, Scotland
  • Glasgow, Scotland

TRIP 2 – October 2009

Since I’m taking time off to travel, I offered to accompany my Mum on her dream trip, since she wasn’t keen on travelling on her own. She chose Morocco and she also chose a guided coach tour with Insight Vacations. Most people said, ohmigod, 10 days on a bus with my mother, but we get along pretty good. I’m lucky that way.

  • Rabat
  • Meknes
  • Fes
  • Erfoud
  • Ouarzazate
  • Marrakesh

TRIP 3 – November – December 2009

As far back as I can remember, I’ve wanted to go to New Zealand. My friend Tammy has been working in Sydney for the past year, so I’m doing 5 weeks in Australia and New Zealand. I went via LA so I could visit my cousin on the way.

  • Los Angeles
  • Sydney
  • Katoomba and Blue Mountains
  • Alice Springs, Uluru and Kings Canyon
  • Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road
  • North Island – Auckland to Rotorua to Wellington
  • South Island – Nelson to Christchurch to Queenstown to Franz Josef

  1. Hey Michelle.

After reading through your blog, it looks like you’ve been getting better weather overall than we have, but it’s not about a competition!

What pubs in Glasgow? When we were there, I think the only one that we actually went to was The Butterfly and Pig, or something like that. Quite small, but the beer and whisky were cheap and the WiFi was free!
